Profile

Photography has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My childhood camera was a box camera, with which I remember taking snaps of our family caravan holidays in Selsea Bill.

My first foray into serious photography was whilst a student in Minnesota in the 70’s, where I had the opportunity to enrol on a photography course. I took black and white photographs around the campus and developed them later in the university dark room. I learnt the importance of light and composition and was totally hooked.

In 1982 I bought a Nikon F3, which I cherished for the next 25 years. During these years I enjoyed photographing my growing family, travels and celebrations. At this time I was living in the Caribbean and was enthralled to observe a wide variety of tropical birds. This sowed the seed for my current passion for photographing birds, which I chose as my specialty subject for my recent ARPS Natural History panel.

On my return to England I bought a Nikon digital camera, joined the local camera club and embraced the world of National and International Exhibitions and Distinctions, which has challenged and inspired me to develop my photography.

I enjoy the excitement of travel and happiest when outdoors. I feel very privileged my photography has given me the opportunity to see such a cornucopia of wildlife and stunning landscapes around the British Isles and overseas and I hope you will enjoy looking at my pictures.
